I’m a warrior. I was brought up as a warrior. I didn’t have toys, I had weapons. I slept with a wooden sword until I was five. My first books were medieval demonologies with illuminated pages. The first songs I learned were chants to banish demons. I know what brings me peace, and it isn’t sandy beaches or chirping birds in rainforests. I want a weapon in my hand and a strategy to win.

A Mortal Instruments Gift Guide
Does the Clave have a position on the December holidays?
For us, they’re a time when people are supposed to come together and put aside their differences, and that’s a sentiment with which we think our favorite Shadowhunters and Downworlders would wholeheartedly agree. So we’ve put together a set of gifts for the Mortal Instruments-loving mundane on your list.
(Plus, it’s probably pretty hard to find time to shop when you’re busy, you know, saving the world.)

Which are you more nervous about City of Heavenly Fire or Clockwork Princess?
— oneofthenightchildren

In terms of “when they come out, how will people react?” I guess Clockwork Princess, because the ending gave my critique group a lot of “AAAAA!” (although everyone agreed it was the only way it could end, but I still rewrote it about 1,000 times) whereas CoHF isn’t finished. So without myself knowing exactly how the ending plays out, even if I do know what happens, I can’t guess how people might react. Mostly people react to the execution of something rather than the idea. (via cassandraclare)

cassandraclare:

So Smart Pop Books has put up the introduction to Shadowhunters and Downworlders, which is their collection of essays on The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices. And these essays are written by amazing writers, who tackle everything, and I do mean everything:

Inside you’ll read:

You were talking about writing a story after TDA with gay protagonists, and I know that you can’t spoil anything (if you even have much plotted to spoil), but A. Do we know either of the protagonists? B. Are they both girls, both guys, or one of each (which would be a bit awkward)?
— livepastyourlies

1) Two guys.

2) You don’t know either of them yet.
